Thai Lottery Winner in Nong Khai Takes ฿6 Million
The quietest of the latest Thai lottery winners did not buy a bound set, did not dream the number and did not spend more than the price of a single slip. Krittaya Asanachai, 36, cuts and sets hair in a room of her own house in Kaeng Kai, a subdistrict of Sangkhom district in Nong Khai, on the stretch of road that runs between the Mekong and the hills. On 15 October 2026, the day before the draw, she bought one Thai government lottery ticket numbered 011781. It took the first prize: ฿6,000,000.
One ticket, bought the day before the draw
Krittaya is not a heavy player, and that is what makes her unusual among this month’s Thai lottery winners. She did not work a system, did not follow a vendor around, and did not buy a set of five or ten slips of the same number the way most of the enormous figures in Thai lottery winner news are built. She bought one ticket on the Thursday, from a folder held out in front of her, and put it away.
She chose it the way an extraordinary number of Thai government lottery winners choose: by reading the digits against a document she already owned. The six figures on the slip sat close to the number on her own house registration — the thabian baan, the blue booklet every Thai household keeps and every Thai adult can recite from memory. She said she felt a connection to the digits and thought they might carry some luck. She did not expect the first prize. By her own account she would have been pleased with one of the small tiers.
On the afternoon of Friday 16 October the Government Lottery Office read out the numbers. She checked her slip against the result and found all six digits in the right order.
Thai lottery winners and the numbers they already own
Put this win beside the rest of the year and a pattern appears that has nothing to do with probability. The two sisters in Buriram read a car registration. The office worker in Korat read a photograph on her phone. The vegetable seller in Samut Prakan, holding the same six digits as Krittaya in the same draw, read his house number and his car plate. A hairdresser in Nong Khai read her house registration booklet.
The draw does not care. Every one of the one million numbers printed for a Thai draw has exactly the same chance, and nothing written on a document changes it — a point we set out at length in why you can’t predict lottery numbers. What the habit does decide is which slip ends up in whose pocket. That is why almost every Thai lottery first prize winner, asked the obvious question by a reporter, can answer it immediately and exactly.
Sangkhom police station, then a flight to Bangkok
Her first stop was not a bank. On the same day, 16 October, Krittaya took the ticket to Sangkhom provincial police station and had the win entered in the daily record. It is a free formality that takes about twenty minutes, it is not legally required, and nearly every substantial winner in Thailand does it anyway: the station produces a dated official note confirming that a particular person held a particular slip, which settles any later argument about ownership.
Early the following morning she left Sangkhom for the airport at Udon Thani and flew to Bangkok to file the claim in person. A Matichon reporter reached the house in Kaeng Kai later that day to confirm the details; by then the new millionaire was already on her way to Nonthaburi.
Latest Thai lottery winners: the full 16 October 2026 result
Every set of Thai government lottery winners in a given draw starts from the same six digits. The draw was held on the afternoon of Friday 16 October 2026. The first prize was 011781, paying ฿6,000,000 per ticket. The two adjacent numbers, 011780 and 011782, paid ฿100,000 each.
The front-three numbers were 402 and 392; the last-three were 171 and 255; the last-two was 48. Those lower tiers are where most of the money in a Thai draw actually goes, in four-thousand and two-thousand baht slices, to hundreds of thousands of people who never appear in an article.

Thai lottery jackpot winners on Paotang and Lottery Plus
Paper is only half of a modern Thai draw. On the digital side, the L6 lottery sold through the Paotang app produced 31 first-prize tickets on 011781 — ฿186,000,000 from that channel alone, spread across 15 people. The largest single holder had seven slips and collected ฿42,000,000, which makes that account the biggest digital lottery winner on Paotang from this draw. The same draw produced an N3 special-prize number, 781000004657, paying ฿765,516.
The Lottery Plus platform reported four first-prize tickets held by two customers — two slips to a buyer in Ratchaburi and two to a buyer in Ang Thong, ฿12 million each. On paper, the biggest of the Thai lottery jackpot winners was the Samut Prakan vegetable seller who held five slips for ฿30 million, and in Buriram a rubber smallholder bought seven tickets from a vendor working the crowd at a village cremation, two of them 011781, for ฿12 million.
What Thai government lottery winners actually take home
Headline figures in Thai lottery reporting are gross figures. Any prize above ฿20,000 must be claimed at the Government Lottery Office in Nonthaburi rather than at a shop or a stall — which is why Krittaya was on an aeroplane the morning after the draw. The ticket is signed on the reverse, identification is checked against the payment system, every slip is examined under a blacklight, and stamp duty of 0.5% is deducted at the counter.
On ฿6 million that duty comes to ฿30,000, leaving ฿5,970,000. Winners book an online queue in advance through the GLO website or app, and payment is made by bank transfer or Krung Thai Bank cheque rather than in cash. How Thai lottery winners spend money — and why one ticket was enough
To anyone used to Powerball or EuroMillions, ฿6 million for a single slip looks small and a ฿30 million headline looks like a rollover. Neither is right. The Thai Government Lottery first prize is fixed at ฿6,000,000 per ticket and never accumulates. Tickets are printed in bound sets, so a buyer who takes a whole set holds the same number several times over and is paid in full for each slip. Five pay ฿30 million, ten pay ฿60 million. So Krittaya bought one ticket and received the entire first prize. In a riverside district three hours from the nearest airport, ฿5.97 million is not a lifestyle; it is a paid-off house, a clear ledger and school fees settled in advance. She has not made a public list, which is itself in keeping: the new Thai lottery millionaires of this year have talked almost exclusively about debts, children, a room at the temple and carrying on with the job. A hairdresser who filed the police record the same afternoon and booked a flight before breakfast does not look like someone planning to spend it twice.
One ticket, bought out of a passing folder because the digits looked like her own front door. That is the whole of it, and it is the most ordinary story in Thai lottery winner news.
