Thailand Lottery Winners: ฿60 Million on 10 Unsold Tickets

The biggest of the latest Thai lottery winners did not buy a ticket. He failed to sell one. A 34-year-old travelling vendor from Wang Saphung district in Loei province had carried a bound set of ten Thai Government Lottery tickets printed 402701 around the markets of Yasothon for days, and nobody wanted them. On the afternoon of 1 October 2026 the Government Lottery Office read out that exact number as the first prize. Ten slips at ฿6,000,000 each — ฿60 million, on stock he had never managed to shift.

The set nobody wanted

Thai lottery vendors buy their stock. That is the part most people outside Thailand miss. A seller pays wholesale for a block of tickets before a draw, then spends a fortnight walking markets, bus stations and shophouse rows trying to turn that block back into cash. Anything still in the folder on draw day is money already spent.

This vendor’s unsold remainder happened to be a complete set — ten identical slips, all reading 402701. He lives in Wang Saphung, in Loei, but had travelled east into Yasothon to work unfamiliar markets, which is routine for sellers chasing a slow fortnight.

Nobody chose the number. In a country where buyers hunt for birthdays, licence plates and dreams, 402701 said nothing to anyone. So it stayed with him by default, and that default made him one of the largest Thai government lottery winners of the year.

His first move after the announcement was the one almost every big winner in Thailand makes. He took the ten tickets to Mueang Yasothon police station and asked for them to be entered in the daily record — a free, twenty-minute formality that creates a dated official note confirming the slips were in his possession before any claim is filed.

He has not given his name to reporters, and he has not said what the money is for. On that, at least, he is unusual among Thai lottery jackpot winners, who are normally talking about a new house within the hour.

Why ten tickets paid ฿60 million and not a rolling jackpot

A sixty-million-baht headline reads, to anyone used to Powerball or EuroMillions, like an accumulated jackpot. It is nothing of the kind. The Thai Government Lottery first prize is fixed at ฿6,000,000 per ticket and does not roll over.

Tickets are printed in bound sets, and buyers who take a whole set hold several chances at the same number, each paying in full. Two matching slips pay ฿12 million, eight pay ฿48 million, ten pay ฿60 million. The odds of hitting the number do not improve by a hair — only the payout multiplies. That single mechanism explains almost every enormous figure in Thai lottery winner news, and it is why vendors sitting on unsold sets occasionally become the biggest winners in the country. Latest Thai lottery winners: the full 1 October 2026 result

The draw was conducted on the afternoon of Thursday 1 October 2026. The first prize was 402701, paying ฿6,000,000 per ticket. The two adjacent numbers, 402700 and 402702, paid ฿100,000 each.

The front-three numbers were 791 and 912; the last-three were 058 and 396; the last-two was 70. Those lower tiers are where most of the prize money actually goes, in four-thousand and two-thousand baht slices, to hundreds of thousands of people who will never appear in an article.

The digital lottery winner on Paotang who took ฿42 million

Paper is only half of a modern Thai draw. On the digital side, the L6 lottery sold through the Paotang app produced 31 first-prize tickets on 402701 — ฿186,000,000 from that channel alone, spread across 20 accounts.

The distribution was lopsided. Seventeen buyers held a single ticket each, one held two, one held five, and one held seven. That last account is the largest digital lottery winner on Paotang from this draw, collecting ฿42,000,000 without leaving the house. The same draw also produced an N3 special-prize number, 701000001140, paying ฿740,490.

Thai lottery jackpot winners on Lottery Plus — and a dream in Nakhon Si Thammarat

A third channel added four more names to the roll of Thailand lottery winners for this draw. The Lottery Plus platform reported six first-prize tickets among four customers — ฿36 million in total: two tickets to a buyer in Bangkok, two to a buyer in Nakhon Si Thammarat, one in Kamphaeng Phet and one in Nakhon Sawan.

The Nakhon Si Thammarat winner, publicly known only as Khun Air, gave the line that carried the story. She had dreamed of taking the first prize, and when staff rang to tell her the number had come up on both of her tickets she said simply that her dream had come true. On 2 October the platform drove to her house and handed over the ฿12 million in person.

What Thai government lottery winners actually take home

Headline figures in Thailand lottery reporting are gross figures. Any prize above ฿20,000 must be claimed at the Government Lottery Office in Nonthaburi rather than at a shop or a stall. The ticket is signed on the reverse, identification is checked against the payment system, every slip is examined under a blacklight, and stamp duty of 0.5% is deducted at the counter.

On ฿60 million that duty comes to roughly ฿300,000, leaving about ฿59.7 million. Winners book an online queue in advance through the GLO website or app, and payment is made by bank transfer or Krung Thai Bank cheque rather than in cash. How Thai lottery winners spend money — and why sellers keep their own stock

There is a pattern in these stories that is easy to miss when the number is this large. The people who end up holding first-prize tickets are very often the people selling them: the Korat vendor whose own stall left him a winner, the Chachoengsao seller down to her last three slips, and now a man in Yasothon with a full set he could not move.

That is not luck clustering around vendors. It is arithmetic. Sellers handle far more tickets than any buyer, and every unsold slip is a ticket they own by accident. Across thousands of vendors and twenty-four draws a year, somebody’s leftovers are going to match.

What most new Thai lottery millionaires then do is strikingly consistent. Clear the debt, build or repair the house, put the rest aside for family — the same three things said by the Lopburi minimart worker who went back to his shift the next morning and by nearly every one of this year’s Thai lottery winners. The Yasothon vendor has said none of it yet. He has a police log, ten signed slips and two years to decide.
