Thai Lottery Winner Dreamed the Number, Bought One Ticket

She had the number. What she did not have was the money for both tickets. On 1 June 2026 Inthira Saisun became the most talked-about Thai lottery winner in the country — a 25-year-old vegetable seller, five months pregnant and carrying debt, holding a single slip printed with 173770. An elderly stranger had given her the number in a dream, on one condition. The ticket was worth six million baht.

The dream that came with a condition

Inthira Saisun — “Nong Mai” to everyone at the market — is Lahu, from Mae Sot district in Tak province. She had moved down to sell fresh vegetables at the Sun Kan Kha market in Kamphaeng Phet, working a stall stacked with tomatoes, long beans and cabbages, five months into a pregnancy and behind on money.

The dream came first. An old person appeared to her, told her to buy the number 173770, and added a condition: if it won, she was to make merit on their behalf. She woke up remembering all six digits and the promise attached to them.

This is not an unusual way for a Thai lottery winner to arrive at a number. Dreams of the elderly, of the dead, of snakes and of babies are read as number omens across Thailand, and the practice is old enough to have its own vocabulary. Two tickets on the tray, money for one

The next day, around midday, Inthira was sitting behind the vegetables as usual when a lottery seller came through the market with a tray. She glanced across it and there it was: the last three digits, 770, exactly as in the dream.

There were two of them on the tray. Thai government lottery tickets are printed and sold in matching pairs, so the pair was there for the taking. Her purse was not.

She could afford one ticket. She bought it on the strength of a dream and went back to selling vegetables.

She asked to split the pair and take a single ticket. It is the kind of small, forced decision that thousands of market traders make every week and never think about again.

“I cried” — the afternoon the number came in

The Government Lottery Office announced the first prize for the draw of 1 June 2026 at around four o’clock: 173770.

The market found out before she had finished processing it. Traders and shoppers crowded around the stall to congratulate her, and a video posted to Facebook by a local user pushed the story out across Thai social media within hours. In it she is smiling and trying not to cry, and failing.

“I was so happy I cried,” she told reporters who reached the market. “I never dreamed such big luck would fall on me.” Her husband had already taken the physical ticket back to their room for safekeeping — a sensible instinct that any Thai lottery winner would recognise, given how many stories end with a missing slip.

The pair she could not buy

Here is the detail that makes people wince. Because the tray held two tickets with the same six digits, the full pair would have paid ฿12,000,000. She had money for one, so she won ฿6,000,000.

Inthira does not seem to have spent much time on the six million she didn’t get. By her own account she had been hoping, faintly, on the strength of a dream. Six million baht is roughly what a market stall earns in several lifetimes.

What she did with the first afternoon

Most Thai lottery millionaire stories go quiet at this point while the winner talks to family. Inthira reopened her stall.

From three o’clock that afternoon she gave the vegetables away — free, to neighbours and customers, until the stock was gone. Thai reporting described a truckload of produce handed out to the market that had just spent the afternoon congratulating her.

How this Thai lottery winner plans to spend the money

Her stated plan has three parts, in order.

First, clear the debts. Second, keep the promise: make merit for the elderly figure from the dream at the temple in Ban Doi Musoe, in her home province of Tak. Third, put what is left aside as capital to expand the vegetable business rather than leave it.

That ordering — debts, temple, then work — recurs across almost every Thai government lottery winner interview we have read. Very few of them describe stopping. The Chiang Rai interpreter who took ฿60 million on ten tickets in March said much the same thing: pay the debts, make merit for a dead parent, keep working.

For the record: the first prize was 173770 at ฿6,000,000 per ticket. The adjacent numbers 173769 and 173771 paid ฿100,000 each, the front-three numbers were 848 and 415, the last-three were 410 and 938, and the last-two was 95. A promise, not a system

It is tempting to read this as a story about a number. It is really a story about a condition. The dream did not simply hand over 173770 — it asked for something in return, and the first thing Inthira did on becoming a millionaire was start honouring it: the free vegetables in the afternoon, the temple in Tak to come.

None of which makes 173770 lucky, or dreams predictive. The draw was random; the odds on that single ticket were one in a million, exactly as they were for everyone else who bought one that day. What the story does show is why Thai lottery winner news travels so far in Thailand. The money is the headline. The promise is the reason people remember it.
