Thai Lottery Winners: The Tickets Nobody Wanted

The two newest Thai lottery winners in Nakhon Ratchasima both ended up holding the same six digits by accident. One of them could not sell the ticket. The other did not want it. On the afternoon of 2 May 2026 the Government Lottery Office drew 536077, and a 67-year-old stall owner in Sung Noen and a 59-year-old sandstone carver in Sikhio each collected the ฿6,000,000 first prize — ฿12 million between two men who had never met.

The stall that did not sell out

Prasit Wannapinpong is 67 and has run the same lottery pitch at the morning market in Sung Noen district for more than three decades. Every draw leaves a few slips behind — numbers nobody liked, numbers that came in too late — and like most sellers he keeps them rather than send them back. In thirty years, the leftovers had never amounted to anything.

Trade was slow that morning, and by the time the draw came round on the afternoon of 2 May he was sitting with unsold stock again.

Then the first prize was read out: 536077. It was in his own hand.

I never expected leftover tickets to take the first prize like this.

The traders around him worked it out before he did, and the congratulations started at the neighbouring stalls. He had the ticket checked the same day, and said the ฿6 million would go back into the business as working capital — a very particular kind of answer from a man who has spent thirty years selling other people's luck.

A number he did not even like

West of there, in Ban Sap Sombun, Village 14, Lat Buakhao subdistrict of Sikhio district, Saithong Prakaothan was carving sandstone, which is what he does for a living at 59.

A travelling seller came past that morning with tickets. He was working, and waved her off. She came back in the afternoon, selling to his stepfather, and mentioned she had three slips left and would rather not carry them home. He took one to help her clear the board.

He has since been perfectly open about the fact that he did not like the number.

That evening he watched the draw on television. When the announcer reached 536077 he called out to a relative, who refused to believe him until the ticket was in her hand and the digits had been checked one at a time. That made him the second Thai lottery first prize winner of the draw in the same province. He and his wife took the slip to Sikhio police station to have the serial number entered in the daily record — the standard first move for nearly all big Thai government lottery winners, even though nothing in the rules requires it.

Why two Thai lottery jackpot winners, not one jackpot

Readers outside the country tend to read a ฿12 million Thailand lottery headline as a rolled-over jackpot. It is not. The first prize in the Thai Government Lottery is a fixed ฿6,000,000 per ticket and does not accumulate from draw to draw.

Government slips are printed in identical pairs, so a buyer who takes a whole set holds two independent claims on the same number, each paying in full. That is the mechanism behind nearly every large figure in Thai lottery winner news: two matching slips pay ฿12 million, three pay ฿18 million, eight pay ฿48 million.

What happened on 2 May is the other version of the same arithmetic. The pair printed with 536077 did not stay together. One half sat unsold on a stall in Sung Noen; the other was pressed on a sculptor in Sikhio who took it out of politeness. Two men, one ticket each, ฿6 million apiece. Latest Thai lottery winners: the full 2 May 2026 result

The Government Lottery Office announced the draw on the afternoon of Saturday 2 May 2026. The first prize was 536077, paying ฿6,000,000 per ticket, with the adjacent numbers 536076 and 536078 worth ฿100,000 each. The front-three numbers were 267 and 318, the last-three 065 and 153, and the last-two 43. Those lower tiers are where most of the evening's money actually went, in ฿4,000 and ฿2,000 slices, to people nobody will ever interview.

The digital lottery winners on Paotang

Paper is only half of a modern draw. On the digital side, the L6 lottery sold through the Paotang app produced 30 first-prize slips on 536077, held between 24 people — ฿180,000,000 from that channel alone, paid straight into bank accounts. Twenty of those account holders had a single ticket, two held two, and two held three, which is ฿18 million each and made them the largest individual Thai lottery jackpot winners of the draw.

That contrast now runs through every list of latest Thai lottery winners we compile. The biggest holdings belong to anonymous accounts; the winners the country actually talks about are a market trader with unsold stock and a stone carver who bought a number he disliked.

What Thai lottery winners actually take home

Headline figures are gross figures. Anything above ฿20,000 must be claimed at the Government Lottery Office in Nonthaburi, not at a stall: the ticket is signed on the reverse, identification is checked, every slip is examined under a blacklight, and 0.5% stamp duty comes off at the counter — ฿30,000 on ฿6 million. Payment is by bank transfer or Krung Thai Bank cheque after an online queue booking, and the deadline is two years from the draw. How Thai lottery winners spend the money

Between them, the two Korat men gave the answers that turn up in almost every Thai lottery winner interview of this kind: working capital for the business, merit at the temple, a reserve for the children and grandchildren. No cars, no travel, nothing anyone would call a spree. The pattern holds across the Thai lottery millionaire stories of 2026 — the vegetable seller who dreamed her number, the Buriram sisters who split a pair, the Lopburi shop assistant who went back to work the next morning. The money lands, and it goes on debt, parents, children and a shopfront.

What makes 2 May worth keeping in the record is the route the number took. Both slips of 536077 were rejected before they were lucky: one by every customer who walked past a stall in Sung Noen, the other by the man who ended up owning it. Tens of millions of tickets went into that draw and exactly one number came out of the drum, and being wanted or unwanted moved that figure by nothing at all. Which is the whole reason these stories are worth reading — not because someone had a method, but because neither of them did.
