Thai Lottery Winners: ฿18 Million for an Ubon Caterer

Most Thai lottery winners have no story at all beyond the moment the numbers matched. This one has a year of receipts behind it. The owner of a Chinese-banquet catering business in Phibun Mangsahan district, Ubon Ratchathani, had bought lottery tickets from the same roadside seller in every single draw for twelve months without missing one. On 1 July 2026 three of those tickets carried the number 751495 — the first prize. Three slips, ฿6,000,000 each, ฿18,000,000 in total.

“The prize of someone who keeps trying”

The news did not come from the winner. It came from the seller.

On the morning of 2 July 2026 a lottery vendor in Ubon Ratchathani, who posts under the Facebook name Melody Wm and is known to her customers as Or, put up a photograph of herself standing beside the customer who had just become a Thai lottery first prize winner. Her caption began with the least glamorous sentence in Thai lottery winner news: she was tired of answering the phone.

What she wanted people to know, she wrote, was not the amount. It was the habit. In the twelve months she had been selling lottery tickets, this customer — the owner of Boon Thawee Toh Chin, a catering outfit that puts on the multi-course Chinese banquets served at Thai weddings, ordinations and temple fairs — had bought from her in every draw without a single gap. In the previous draw, on 16 June, the same customer had taken a fifth prize, worth ฿20,000. Two weeks later came ฿18 million.

In the year I’ve been selling lottery, this customer never once stopped buying. Never missed a draw. And then they won.

She tagged the post #รางวัลของคนพยายาม — the prize of someone who keeps trying. There was a second coincidence she could not resist mentioning: 1 July was the exact anniversary of the day she had started selling tickets. Her first year in the trade ended with a customer collecting eighteen million baht.

Why three tickets, not one

Readers new to Thai lottery winner news often stumble on the arithmetic. The advertised first prize of the Thai Government Lottery is ฿6,000,000. So how does one buyer walk away with eighteen?

By holding three slips printed with the same six digits. Government lottery tickets are produced in identical sets, and each matching ticket pays the full prize in its own right. Two pay ฿12 million, three pay ฿18 million, ten pay ฿60 million. The odds of the number coming up do not improve at all — only the payout multiplies. This is also why a loyal buyer and a single regular vendor tend to produce big numbers together. A seller who knows a customer will be back every fortnight will hold sets aside. Over a year of standing orders, three-of-a-number stops being a lucky accident and becomes the ordinary shape of the purchase.

Ubon Ratchathani lottery winners took ฿96 million in one draw

The caterer was not the only one celebrating in the province. Ubon Ratchathani had an extraordinary draw on 1 July: four separate first prize winners, spread across three districts, holding ฿96,000,000 between them.

The largest was in Khong Chiam, on the Mekong at the eastern edge of the country, where a buyer held ten tickets on 751495 and collected ฿60,000,000. In Nam Yuen, near the Cambodian border, one winner took ฿12,000,000 on a matched pair and another took ฿6,000,000 on a single slip. Add the ฿18 million in Phibun Mangsahan and one north-eastern province absorbed more than half of the paper first prize money in the draw.

Clusters like this are not mysterious. Vendors buy in bulk from the same wholesalers and distribute the same number sets through the same regional networks, so identical digits tend to land in the same handful of provinces. It is one of the quieter reasons Thai lottery jackpot winners so often turn up in groups.

Latest Thai lottery winners: what the 1 July 2026 draw paid

The official result from the Government Lottery Office that afternoon: first prize 751495, worth ฿6,000,000 per ticket. The two adjacent numbers, 751494 and 751496, paid ฿100,000 each. The front-three numbers were 001 and 980, the last-three were 304 and 531, and the last-two was 62.

A digital lottery winner on Paotang collected ฿138 million

Paper was only half the story. Krungthai’s figures for the L6 digital lottery sold through the Paotang app showed 30 winning tickets on 751495 — ฿180,000,000 of first prize money in total, shared between just six people.

Three of them held one ticket each. Two held two. And one held twenty-three, for ฿138,000,000 — the single largest individual Thai lottery win recorded in 2026, and more than seven times what the Ubon caterer received.

That contrast is the real story of the modern draw. Between one anonymous app user and four winners in Ubon Ratchathani, ฿234 million of a single draw’s top prize went to five people. The bundle-buying that apps and ticket platforms make effortless has quietly reshaped how Thai lottery millionaire stories look.

What Thai lottery winners actually receive

Headline figures are gross figures. Any prize above ฿20,000 must be claimed in person at the Government Lottery Office in Nonthaburi rather than at a shop, the ticket has to be signed on the reverse, and stamp duty of 0.5% is deducted at the counter — ฿90,000 on an ฿18 million win. The deadline is two years from the draw date.

Persistence is not a strategy

It would be easy to read this story the way the internet read it: buy every draw and eventually the lottery pays you back. It is worth being clear that this is not how the numbers work. Twenty-four draws a year at the same odds gives you twenty-four independent chances, not a growing entitlement. The caterer’s year of loyalty bought a fifth prize and then a first prize; thousands of equally faithful buyers in Ubon bought nothing at all. What the story does capture is something true about the Thai lottery that odds tables miss entirely. The transaction is a relationship. A vendor and a customer, the same stall every fortnight for a year, and a photograph taken not by a news crew but by the seller herself, delighted for someone she had come to know.
